Our delicious fudge came about almost accidentally. After retiring from her corporate life, Linda wanted to participate in a local craft show in the fall of 2016. She didn’t consider herself a “crafty person,” so what could she make? Her husband, Steve, (brilliantly) suggested she make her scrumptious fudge to offer to customers. Well, long story short, her creamy, mouth-watering fudge was a BIG HIT, and thus began Linda’s journey as the owner of Valley Fudge & Candy.
THE STORY OF VALLEY FUDGE & CANDY
Following that initial craft show, Linda was called, messaged and stopped throughout town by community members asking her to make more fudge. Word caught on quickly, and local businesses were soon requesting to carry her fudge in their stores. Surprised by the fudge’s popularity, Linda agreed to make more, and she hasn’t stopped since!
The fudge company has always been based in Coon Valley, Wisconsin – a quaint village along the Mississippi River – but it has changed kitchens a couple times. In the early stages of making fudge, Linda borrowed kitchen space from a local restaurant who kindly welcomed her in. As demands grew and more space and time in the kitchen was needed, Linda found her own commercial kitchen to call home. Eventually, Valley Fudge & Candy outgrew that space too, and in May of 2020, we moved into our current 1,000 square foot Licensed Manufacturing Facility – although our space continues to be remodeled and expanded even further.
Throughout the company’s years of growth, Linda has continued to be community minded. She has been joined by a small but mighty team of fabulous fudge helpers from throughout the local area – her husband, Steve, being one of those team members! Ingredients are also locally sourced as we love supporting fellow small and family-owned businesses. We only use top-quality, local Wisconsin butter from Westby Cooperative Creamery in each batch of fudge. We believe that’s our special ingredient!
Now in our 8th year of business, our Valley Fudge & Candy team is proud to make over 75 flavors of fudge including seasonal specialties. We love to see where our fudge travels to – both near and far – as we sell fudge in our own store in Coon Valley, on valleyfudgeandcandy.com, through fundraisers and to wholesale companies in all 50 states!
